La Flor Dominicana (LFD) Oro Cigars Review
By Francina AlvarezLa Flor Dominicana (LFD) Oro cigars are some of the most highly-sought-out-for cigars out there – let’s review them. The name Oro (Spanish for Gold) is Litto Gomez’s way of paying homage to his former career as a jeweler. Packed in distinctive golden tubes, these cigars are one of a kind. Also, it highlights the royal feeling of smoking an LFD.
These cigars are made from Lanela home-grown Dominican binders and fillers stuffed in a Nicaraguan wrapper. These cigars are often considered perfect for celebrations and gifts to important male figures in your life. They come in different shapes and vitolas. You can also get the Natural or Maduro line depending on your taste palate. The dominating flavor profile includes tingly ginger on the palate, strong hickory wood, and spicy leather. For this review, I have chosen the La Flor Dominicana (LFD) Oro Chisel Tubo.

La Flor Dominicana Oro Chisel Tubo Cigars Review
Housed in a light tan Nicaraguan Habano Natural wrapper, which gave this cigar a pretty and approachable look. It has deep seams and lines running down its vertical axis. A red, gold, and black hand adorn the body, giving it the classic LFD seal of approval.
Sweet, creamy aromas of chocolate, hay, grass, and sweet tobacco hit me in the face as I admired the construction of the cigar. A cold draw added notes of black pepper, and leather to the already sweet profile. Time to light it up. Chocolate once again formed the highlight of my first few puffs. The creamy and nuttiness of the cigar burst onto my palate as I settled in on the smoking. The retro-hale was cool and creamy.
The second third introduced new waves of complexities to this cigar. My palate was baptized in the notes of black cherry, molasses, honey, leather, and rich tobacco. The mildness of the cigar remained a central aspect, with the cigar never becoming bitter at any point in time.
The final third introduced a sharp increase in the spicy note. The white pepper notes have now joined the chocolate at the forefront of the notes, with all the black cherry, molasses, and honey relegated to the background. I got around 2 hours of smoke from the cigar: the ash held nicely, a testament to the craftsmanship of LFD.
This cigar is perfect for a newbie as it introduces you to the world of LFD complex notes without the rush of nicotine and spices seen in other LFDs. Also, a seasoned smoker can also add this to his collection. It is perfect for a calm morning smoke accompanied by some lattes. You can also take one of these to the cigar lounge or the golf course. It does not have an overbearing nicotine smoke that could put off your non-smoking friends. If this review has enticed you to buy La Flor Dominicana Oro cigars, shop now at Cigar Country!
