La Flor Dominicana (LFD) Suave Natural & Maduro Review

La Flor Dominicana Suave Natural and Maduro are creamy cigars crafted by the ingenuity of the legendary Litto Gomez. It is rumored to have a complex profile despite the mild and lighter demeanor. So let’s review La Flor Dominicana (LFD) Suave Natural and Maduro cigars!

La Flor Dominicana (LFD) Suave Natural & Maduro Review

Suave is a work of art made from Dominican-grown binder and filler tobacco with a coat of Connecticut Shade or broadleaf wrapper. The wrapper is the major determinant of the category of Suave you are testing. These cigars have also been compared to the La Flor, with another reputable author calling them “the La Flor without the nicotine rush.”

Strength: Mild
Country: Dominican Republic
Wrapper: Connecticut Shade or Connecticut Broadleaf

We’re trying the Lonsdale Suave natural and a much thicker Maduro. The Suave Natural had a beautiful light tan appearance while the Maduro spotted a more rugged look. There were only a few seams and lines on the Maduro and these are invisible on the natural. Both cigars spot the classic red, gold, and black band that adorns the body, highlighting the highest seal of LFD approval.

Aromas of grass, hay, nuts, and earth dominated the air. I opted for a straight cut on both cigars with my trusted guillotine. The cold drew added notes of black pepper to the mix. Lightening of the natural was much easier compared to the Maduro which took a few tries. The draw was perfect and I got a creamy blast of smoke. The retrohale on both cigars was smooth and creamy.

The second third on both cigars exhibited the complexities of the LFD lines. The complex notes regularly transition from the foreground to the background. At this point, I had to retouch the char on my Maduro. Both cigars are hanging in there construction-wise, there was no area of softness or weakness.

The black pepper spice note made a reentry in the final third. The leather and nuts are now in the forefront with the earth and hay riding in the background. The only problem with my Natural was that it finished too early, now I regret picking a Lonsdale. I was able to get an extra 30 minutes of smoke from the Maduro, making for a total of 2 hours of mild, creamy smokes.

These cigars are a nice entry point into the world of flavors that LFD offers to nicotine-naive smokers. Experienced smokers can also introduce more diversity in their collections with these mild cigars. Both the Natural and Maduro share a similar flavor profile with the Maduro being a little nuttier.
