La Flor Dominicana (LFD) La Nox and La Nox Petite Cigars Review

By Connor
La Flor Dominicana (LFD) La Nox and La Nox Petite Cigars Review

If you’re interested in buying La Flor Dominicana’s (LFD) La Nox Toro or Petite cigars, this review might come in handy! La Nox means “the night” in Latin, and LFD claimed the cigar embodies the name and the serene experience that only the night can provide. The cigars’ appearance and packaging definitely evoke serenity.

Tory Gomez, the son of LFD owner Litto Gomez, is the master blender and the touch of a newer generation was evident. La Nox, a Toro extra vitola, was the first release and the petite version came afterward. These cigars featured the darkest Brazilian wrappers, Dominican fillers, and Mexican San Andres binders. The most stunning feature of La Nox is the packaging, nothing like what we’ve seen before- a black wooden round box with magnets rather than hinges.

La Flor Dominicana (LFD) La Nox Toro

A super-premium smoke that redefines artistic expression in the cigar industry! Vincent Van Gogh’s signature even inspired the logo’s font. Without a doubt, this unique smoke, thrilling as a starry night, is very satisfying after a large dinner and with a few cocktails.

La Flor Dominicana (LFD) La Nox and La Nox Petite Cigars Review

Appearance

Except for the size difference, La Nox and La Nox Petite had the same look. They both had a rustic appearance, with their wrappers oily and dark. Tiny visible veins ran through their bodies, and the seams were visible. They both had double bands- both of which were black, sky blue, and white. One band has La Nox written, and the other had a crescentic image.

Aroma and Cold Draw

For the La Nox cigar, the wrapper smelled of nuts, cocoa, cedar, and earth on the body, while the foot was dominated by oak, paprika, and dried fruit. The cold draw had notes of apple cider, dark fruits, and some espresso.

The La Nox Petite wasn’t so different from its big brother. The Brazilian wrapper smelt of salty nuts. It had some earthiness and nuttiness to it with hints of cocoa powder and espresso beans. Its cold draw was dominated by earthy notes, followed closely by chocolate and cocoa.

First Third

La Nox started smooth, full, refined, and rich. The draw was firm and airy, with the smoke oily and medium to full-bodied in strength. It was flavorful with pepper spices, chocolate, and toasty notes. The retro-hale had a sweetness to it with cedar and black raisin. The strength and body were medium-plus.

Unlike its big brother, the Petite cigar revealed its full strength right from the start but didn’t lose its smoothness. The draw was tight, thanks to the Maduro wrapper on a small ring gauge. Its flavor had a complexity to it, with notes of anise, charred vanilla, chocolate, black pepper, and cedar all fighting for dominance.

Second Third

Tilting towards full strength, La Nox Toro had notes of cream, earth, black pepper, malt, salty cedar, leather, toasty nuts, and zest lemon. La Nox Petite had more pepper and anise notes. Dark chocolate, dark toast, and espresso beans joined the queue.

Both cigars had clean draws, an even burn line, and firm ash.

Final Third

The last third of the two cigars had a sweetness to it with notes of coffee, chocolate, earth, and anise.

Their flavor complexity, body, and strength were incredible. But don’t underestimate the Petite; it could knock you off your feet. Without a doubt, this review confirms that La Nox is a cigar worth trying. Shop now, at Cigar Country!
