La Flor Dominicana Factory Press IV Review

La Flor Dominicana Factory Press IV Review

Litto Gomez has always been a man who caters to his customers. That’s why his company keeps making hits. For most cigar makers, something always motivates or triggers the release of a series or making a particular shape. For the LFD Factory Press series, Litto Gomez wanted his customers to witness the process of box-pressing cigars. The cigars in the series were shipped in the factory press, and as Litto has said, they are special. His customers received them well and returned the thoughtfulness with massive patronage. Ever since the Factory Press was released, it’s been making waves. I will review one of the cigars in the Factory Press series, LFD Factory Press IV.

LFD Factory Press IV Review

LFD Factory Press cigars come in trays, and the Factory Press IV wasn’t different. Picking it out from the tray, the cigar was perfectly squared. The cigar featured a Mexican wrapper that is dark brown on which a band with many hues ( black, red, golden) sits. Its body was smooth with little veins and seams.

Strength: Full
Country: Dominican Republic
Wrapper: Mexican

Cold Draw and Pre-light Draw

The wrapper smelt of raisins and pepper on a cold draw. I reached out for the cutter and made a straight cut. I chopped off about half an inch, and the great core of the cigar was revealed. The prelight draw had little flavor—nothing too complex except for some sweet, wood, and espresso. The cigar lit up easily and the burn was fantastic.

First Third

A few puffs into the cigar and a nice cocoa flavor surfaced. A tinge of black pepper also graced my palate. Chocolate and floral notes were also added, but the cocoa still dominated. The ash had formed nicely, but it was flaky. With a little breeze, your body will be messed up.

Second Third

The black pepper is becoming more robust, with chocolate and floral notes adding to the flavor profile. The Mexican wrapper is doing the magic now. Till now, there has not been any complexity to the flavor. The strength is now above medium, tilting towards full.

Final Third

At the final third of my smoking session, chocolates, and cocoa dominated. The pepper was nowhere to be found. A little stub left, and I had to put down the cigar. From the beginning till the end cocoa, chocolates, pepper, and floral notes interplayed the flavor dominance—a combination I loved.

Burn and Draw

LFD Factory Press IV burned nicely at an ideal rate. The cigar draw however was a little bit tight. It’s expected due to the intense box-pressing. It needed many touch-ups but not too many not to be enjoyed.

LFD Factory Press IV is a premium stogie that aficionados should try. The flavour notes weren’t complex but they will still be enjoyed. The flavor transition was smooth and I particularly love cocoa and chocolate flavours.
