Davidoff Colorado Claro Review & Price Range
By Mariana HerediaWe decided to give one of these a try after hearing the term “Colorado Claro” bandied around by other aficionados with enthusiasm. The Colorado Claro is a limited-edition Davidoff, but not so limited that there aren’t still plenty available years after it was released. Read this Davidoff Colorado Claro review to learn more!
The wrapper was a beautiful milk chocolate shade of brown that was immaculate. It was greasy and had a few veins visible. The cigar felt strong and weighty for its size, as well as quite hard. You pay top dollar for these sticks to have impeccable construction and appearance.
We discovered an excellent pull with enough flavor after clipping the cap. For starters, there was the classic “Davidoff funk.” You’ll know what we’re talking about if you’ve had a few Davidoff sticks. That forestry, musty, mushroom flavor. It’s on almost everything that leaves the factory, and it’s on this one as well.
The Colorado Claro wowed from the first puff. You get cedar and citrus right away, as well as natural tobacco and earth, leather, and a hint of pepper spice. The musty, forestry flavor was present but not as powerful as it had been on the cold pull. Can’t say it started out in the medium-bodied category; not as light as you’d expect from a Davidoff, but certainly not full-bodied. Began to detect a saltiness about midway through the first third, which blended beautifully with the sweeter flavor characteristics.
The flavor kept on delivering…in fact, it was rather amazing. Sweet, salty, earthy, woody, and spicy. A taste explosion – cornucopia, if you will. The craftsmanship was flawless except for the damaged wrapper. We had a perfect draw and nice ash.
We wanted to give this cigar a very good rating based on the first third. It would have been pretty high based on the first two-thirds but by the end, the destroyed wrapper had really irritated me. Even if it’s sun-grown Connecticut wrapping is most probable and possibly tough to regulate. Still, for such a high-priced cigar. So only gave it half a point for structure and a point off for flavor, but we still gave it full marks for value.
The price range for Davidoff Colorado Claro cigars ranges from $213 to $408 per box of 10.
