Davidoff Cigar will celebrate its 50th year in operation in 2021. To mark the milestone, the firm chose to collaborate with its various partners and suppliers to develop a limited-edition 50th-anniversary cigar collection. During the golden jubilee year, a total of 12 cigars were made, which works out to around one cigar per month. Davidoff has released the fifth episode of the series, which was revealed in May. After removing the wrapper, this isn’t the loveliest of wrappers, despite Davidoff’s reputation for exquisite cigars. While the cigar’s shape is perfect, the covering has several faults and a lot of veins. The aroma of barnyard, leather, graham cracker, and some yellow mustard is medium-full on the wrapper. Intense graham cracker tastes, as well as milk chocolate, walnuts, and overall sweetness come from the small foot. The cold pull includes a variety of flavors, including leather, coffee, general sweetness, a trace of root beer, and a wasabi-like tickling on the tip of my mouth.
The flavors seem to want to pile on top of one another, almost like a procession; one strikes my taste receptors, and another appears a half-second later. The graham cracker sweetness that is present before the cigar is lit quickly rises to the top of the Davidoff Diademas Finas Limited Edition 50th Anniversary’s profile, followed by some tastiness, key lime, wheat, and mild amounts of the Davidoff mustiness associated with color tobaccos, as well as a touch of olive oil. Nuttiness, lemon zest, graham cracker, and a smidgeon of chocolate round out the primary taste.
Key limes, hickory, leather, wheat, and creaminess dominate the finish, with black pepper covering the profile after around three seconds. Retrohales have a pita bread flavor, a cola-like bitterness, and an odor, and are sharper than before. The flavor is rich but diminishing, and the body and strength are medium-strong. Although earthiness, wheat crackers, and hay hide the musty flavor in the latter third, it becomes more prominent. Other tastes include black pepper, coffee beans, and a toasted flavor.
