Ashton Monarch Cigar Review
I had a long day at work and needed something to relax. I opened my humidor to pick an Ashton Monarch. The white-golden tube it was enclosed in was elegant. It looked relaxing, which was exactly what I wanted.
As I opened the tube, I was struck by the silky golden-brown wrapper that was smooth, free of blemishes and soft spots, and had a uniform color. The pre-light draw had herbal, nutty, and tart flavors.
The first few puffs were filled with nutty and creamy flavors as I lit it up. I could smell a little bit of oakwood, almond, and herbal spices in the background, perfectly complementing one another to give a relaxing, mellow experience. The cigar burned uniformly, giving firm peppery ash that revealed an elegant cone when tapped off.
My Ashton Classic Monarch started with a smooth, creamy flavor. So far, the cigar has been flavorful with cream, oakwood, and almond nuts. I got bits of sweetness as I moved toward the second third of my smoking session. The smoke was still dense with cream, oakwood, and almond, plus hints of spices added up. The ash is becoming firm and forming a perfectly shaped cone.
The final third is here; up to this point, the burn, flavor, smoke, and notes have been well-balanced. I wasn’t expecting the notes of ground coffee I was getting here, but it was a good note to round off with.
Ashton Classic Monarch has all it takes to get relaxed after a long day. It has the taste and strength necessary to get by a hard day. It is well-balanced, full-flavored, and complex. You can pair it with cognac, whiskey, or brandy to have a perfect evening.
