Plasencia Cigars traces its origins back to Cuba in the 1860s. Don Eduardo Plasencia moved from the Canary Islands in 1865 to Vuelta Abajo, Cuba, where he started growing tobacco. During the Cuban Revolution, their land and farms were seized, causing them to move once again to Mexico, Nicaragua, and then Honduras. In 1987, Nestor Plasencia joined the cigar industry, and finally moved the family back to Nicaragua in 1990. They now operate out of both Nicaragua and Honduras.
