You probably hear about Davidoff a lot, but who is he, and who owns the company? Davidoff is a Swiss premium brand of cigars, cigarettes, and smoker’s adornments. Imperial Brands claimed the Davidoff cigarette brand after buying it in 2006. The non-cigarette part of the Davidoff tobacco brand is possessed by Oettinger Davidoff AG, which is situated in Basel, Switzerland.

Davidoff’s brand name begins from the last name of its Ukrainian-Jewish-conceived organizer, Zino Davidoff (conceived Sussele-Meier Davidoff; 1906, Novhorod-Siverskyi – 1994, Geneva), who ran a tobacco expert shop in Geneva, Switzerland, from 1926 to 1994. He was known as the “Ruler of Cigars.
After the Second World War, Zino Davidoff chose to get a permit to create his series of stories. As he had known worldwide clients, he named the different arrangements of this “Château” cigar series after well-known Bordeaux grape plantation homes. The main in the series was the “Château Latour” in 1946.
In 1967, Zino Davidoff was drawn nearer by Cubatabaco, Cuba’s state tobacco syndication, about making a line of cigars conveying the “Davidoff” name. The cigars were moved to the recently settled El Laguito manufacturing plant in Havana, which had been laid out to move Cuban President Fidel Castro’s very own cigars, named Cohíba.
In 1968, the main cigars conveying the name “Davidoff” were delivered. The principal designs were the No. 1, the No. 2, and the Ambassadrice. In 1970, Oettinger AG, situated in Basel, Switzerland, obtained the privileges of the Davidoff brand name.
