La Flor Dominicana (LFD) Double Ligero Chisel Maduro Review

La Flor Dominicana (LFD) Double Ligero Chisel Maduro Review

La Flor Dominicana (LFD) Double Ligero Chisel Maduro is one of the most unique cigars on the market – let’s review it. A full-bodied, wedge-shaped cigar filled to the brim with strong Dominican-grown tobacco.

Brand owner Litto Gomez’s estate-grown ligero tobacco is packed in a luscious gleaming Ecuadorian wrapper to make this beauty. The shape might seem odd initially, but after a few puffs, you’ll notice it fits comfortably in your mouth. The tapering at the head helps concentrate the smoke. This exposed your palate to a strong supply of wood, ground pepper, and leather. For today’s review, I will be treating myself to a Double Ligero that I have been saving for a rainy day.

La Flor Dominicana (LFD) Double Ligero Chisel Maduro Review

The Sun Grown Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper of this wedge-shaped cigar had a shiny sheen. It had a deep dark coffee brown color with a generous amount of oil. The uniquely shaped head of the cigar jumps right at you, and the foot is all Shade wrapped. Seams and lines are nearly invisible. A red, gold, and black hand adorn the body, giving it the classic LFD seal of approval.

Strength: Full
Country: Dominican Republic
Wrapper: Sun-Grown Ecuadorian Sumatra

Aromas of hay, spice, earthy tobacco, and chocolate dominated the air. I opted for a straight cut with my trusted guillotine. The cold draw added notes of black pepper, grass, and leather to the already sweet profile. The draw was awesome as I got a blast of clouds of smoke. A blast of red pepper, wood, and leather sang through my palate. The retrohale was too dominating for my liking.

The second third introduced the complexities of this cigar. My palate was baptized in the notes of chocolate, black cherry, cream, spice, molasses, honey, leather, and rich tobacco. A luscious, rich, and complex cigar with a nice balance. However, the strength is still full-bodied despite the rich number of notes.

In the final third, there was a sharp increase in the spicy notes and nicotine. The black pepper notes are now at the forefront of the notes, with all the chocolate, black cherry, cream, spice, molasses, and honey relegated to the background. At this point in the smoking session, I had retouched the smoke two times. Also, this cigar is for the experienced palate, as the spice and nicotine could be overbearing. I got around 2 hours of smoke from the cigar: the ash held nicely, a testament to the craftsmanship of LFD.

A solid and fun cigar for the right crowd. The La Flor Dominicans Double Ligero Chisel Maduro has a rich and flavorful profile. However, the nicotine and spice blast could be overbearing for newbies.
