La Flor Dominicana (LFD) Capítulo/Chapter 2 Review

By Connor
La Flor Dominicana (LFD) Capítulo/Chapter 2 Review

La Flor Dominicana (LFD) Capítulo/Chapter 2 is the second release of the cigar blended by Tony Gomez, the son of Litto Gomez – let’s review. The first release of the series, Chapter 1, was a success. Capitulo was used to distinguish it from the Casa Miranda Chapter 2. Just like Chapter 1, it is chisel-shaped and comes in a box of 10. Although the shape is the same as Chapter 1, it has a different shape and tobacco.

La Flor Dominicana (LFD) Capítulo/Chapter 2 Review

Like Chapter 1, Capítulo II was box pressed and had a wedge-shaped chisel head. The wrapper was Nicaragua Colorado, dark reddish brown, glossy, and veiny. The body was smooth with little blemishes. The look was aesthetically pleasing and interesting—the wrapper smelt of earth, barnyard, pepper, clay, and pepper.

Strength: Medium to full
Country: Dominican Republic
Wrapper: Nicaragua

I needed no cutter to remove the head. The wedge-shaped chisel head was removed once I pinched the sides. The cold draw was salty, sweet, and cakey.

First Third

After lighting up the cigar, the spiciness of LFD cigars was distinct. I also noticed notes of earth, barnyard, molasse, anise, toasts, and almonds. After a few puffs, I began to see notes of leather, candy, and sweets. The spiciness was still much here, especially the retrohale. The strength started medium but was becoming full-bodied. The first third ended with black pepper coming into the flavour picture.

Second Third

The cigar is becoming bold, and the draw has been nice. There has not been much difference in the flavor profile, but the spiciness has significantly reduced. The cigar is now full strength, and notes of cocoa, cedar, and malt were noticeable towards the end of the second third.

Final Third

The white ash had formed nicely and was firm. The burn and smoke production has been okay. The flavor notes blended well, and they remained almost the same as the second third. However, the cocoa of the second third has become dominant, along with notes of toast, cedar, and hay. The sweetness and slickness have disappeared. I could taste cocoa and cream on my tongue. The flavor was now full and complex but smooth.

Overall the flavor profile was complex, just like in Chapter 1. It was creamy, nutty, salty, sweet, earthy, meaty, cedary, and leathery. I checked my time, and it was over 2 hours already.

Chapter 1 and Capitulo II have different flavor profiles. But the same level of craftsmanship went into their production. LFD Capítulo II will make a good celebratory cigar.
