La Flor Dominicana Factory Press Cigars AKA Spanish Press

La Flor Dominicana Factory Press Cigars AKA Spanish Press

Easily recognizable because of its distinctive shape, the Factory Press or Spanish Press cigars by La Flor Dominicana is a trademark series. This unique shape is due to the cigars being left in trays until a customer purchases one. To hammer this on, each pack is sold in the original tray they were packaged in. There are 12 cigars in each tray and ten trays in a master; this brings us to 120 cigars in each box.

How many releases of La Flor Dominicana Factory/Spanish Press cigars are there?

Up to this moment, La Flor Dominicana Factory has released seven different batches of these factory press series:

The latest release

Weighing in at 6 ½ inches long and 50 ring gauge wide, the 2017 incarnation is close to the original Press I and Press IV. However, LFD changed the blend, opting for the luscious Ecuadorian Habana wrapper and Ecuadorian Sumatran binder, and filler tobacco. There are only 300 boxes of 120 cigars in this release — a grand total of 36,000 cigars, each retailing at around $15.00

Strength: Medium
Country: Dominican Republic
Wrapper: Ecuador Habano

Quick Review

The appearance is a soft-box press. You would normally expect a sharper and more distinct press. The wrapper’s hue is close to a reddish-brown clot with many veins and patches alongside a generous amount of oil. The aroma combines hay, espresso beans, barnyard, cocoa, and black pepper. The cold draw brings in flavors of creamy cedar, earth, chocolate, and a touch of floral.

The latest Spanish Press started as a solid medium in the initial third. With these flavor notes, a combination of what is perceived on taking a cold draw. The draw is also fantastic, giving a copious amount of thick clouds of smoke.

Unfortunately, the final third introduced a blast of nicotine which saw the strength rise sharply to full-bodied. This could prove overwhelming to the inexperienced palate.

The La Flor Dominicana Factory Press cigars are also known as Spanish Press. This unique shape is because of how the cigars are left in trays until one has been purchased. However, the box press on the latest version features a less distinct sharp box press seen in older versions. They are a wonderful smoking experience, and every cigar aficionado needs to have at least a couple in their collections.
