Davidoff Royal Release Robusto & Salomones Review

By Mariana Heredia
Davidoff Royal Release Robusto & Salomones Review

Davidoff has done it again. Davidoff Royal Release cigars feature the most beautiful wrappers you’ve ever seen. Photos do not do it justice. It will pick up a slight reddish tint based on how the light reflects it. The wrapper has some smoothness, and oil is visible on the surface. There are some thin veins and seams visible on the wrapper. Read this review of Davidoff Royal Release Robusto and Salomones cigars to learn more.

Davidoff Royal Release Robusto & Salomones Review

The Davidoff Royal Release Robusto measures 5 1/2″ x 52 while the Salomones is an 8 1/4″ x 57 Salomon. The Robusto is great for shorter smokes, while the Salomones is great for prolonged, celebratory smokes.

Strength: Medium
Country: Dominican Republic
Wrapper: Dominican Republic

The Davidoff Royal Release cigars have two bands. There is a white oval field with the text “Davidoff” in a classic cursive gold-colored font in the center of the band. A trim of gold goes around the oval’s perimeter, and these circles are embossed, unlike White Label bands. The royal blue background has a gold font with the word “ROYAL” on the left side of the oval. A royal blue background with gold font is used for the text.

Beginning with natural tobacco, herbal, and black pepper notes, the Davidoff Royal Release cigar delivers classic Davidoff flavors. At first, the primary notes are natural tobacco and herbal. It was evident that both notes were sweet, just like the pre-light draw. A secondary note arose from the black pepper. However, black pepper was also prominent on the retro-hale, but it never became overly sharp.

Throughout the first third of the cigar, the natural tobacco and herbal notes remained dominant. Along with black pepper, other notes, such as citrus and baker’s spice, emerge during this phase.

The toast notes began to intensify in the second third of the song. Before the show’s midway point, the toasty notes blended with the tobacco and herbal notes. It has been found that the baker’s spice has diminished and has been replaced with pepper and cedar spice. However, there was still a hint of citrus in the background.

During the final third of Davidoff Royal Release, the spice level increases with cedar and black pepper notes dominating the blend. This spice dominated the flavor profile, along with some herbal notes. Still, there were some toasty and citrusy notes in the background. You can see the end of the Robusto Royal Release. When it was finished, the nub was firm and cool to the touch.

Occasionally, the burn line displayed a jaggedness, but it was not significant enough to warrant additional touch-ups. Ash picked up a salty and peppery color from the fire. The ash on this cigar was tightly coiled and came off in large chunks. It was a cigar with near-perfect combustion, which I would expect from something as premium as the Royal Release.
