Ecuador Wrapper Cigars

The demand for Ecuador cigar wrappers is greater now than it has ever been in the history of the cigar industry. The country is home to 3 distinct and well-known groups of cigar wrappers: Sumatra, Habano, and Connecticut. The Olivia Tobacco Company exclusively grows the Ecuador Sumatra and Habano seed wrappers. A.S.P. Enterprises, Inc., another company with Cuban roots, grows the light brown Ecuadorian Connecticut seed wrappers. Farmers started growing premium cigar wrapper tobacco in Ecuador in the early 1960s. The U.S. trade embargo on Cuba forced growers to find alternatives to Cuban tobacco. It was then discovered that the rich and fertile Ecuadorian soil was perfect for premium tobacco. Also, the thick clouds filter the sun’s rays and protect the leaves.

All the wrappers grown in Ecuador boast an exceptionally rich flavor profile. In Ecuador Sumatra wrapper cigars, you will get notes of cinnamon, floral, earth notes, and a slightly sweet aftertaste. On the other hand, golden-brown Connecticut tends to have a richer and creamy note with some nutty elements. The Ecuador Habano is commonly regarded as arguably the best cigar wrapper. It has one of the most elaborate flavors of any wrapper out there. It is silky in appearance and oily to the touch, with thin veins that are hardly seen. The smoke is often richly dense with notes of spice, pepper, and caramel. Some premium hand-rolled cigars with Ecuador wrappers include Arturo Fuente Rosado Sungrown Magnum R, Ashton Symmetry, and Rocky Patel 15th Anniversary.
