About Alfonso Añejo
Alfonso Añejo is a medium-bodied ultra-premium cigar and the debut line from the Alfonso brand, created by Nelson Alfonso of Selected Tobacco S.A. the visionary master blender behind Atabey and Byron. Named after the Alfonso family's legacy of Cuban cigar craftsmanship dating back to 1850, the Añejo line was born from Nelson Alfonso's fascination with French oak winemaking. Just as the world's finest wines draw complexity from their barrels, the Añejo ages for a full five years across Spanish cedar and French oak rooms — with humidity intentionally cycled throughout the process to allow the tobacco to breathe and absorb the unique character of each wood. Rolled at the Tabacos de Costa Rica factory in Puriscal, Costa Rica, the Alfonso Añejo was named the #1 Cigar of 2022 by halfwheel and the #2 Cigar of the Year by Cigar Coop.
Dressed in a silky Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, the Añejo delivers a refined, creamy profile that unfolds gracefully from start to finish. Expect natural tobacco, cream, honey, cedar, and white pepper on the open, transitioning into vanilla sweetness and toasted nuts in the middle, with cocoa nibs, creme brûlée, and a clean French oak finish in the final third.
Tasting Notes & Accolades
Master Blender Quote: "Cedar is to cigars as oak is to wine. The years we take to age the cigars in this process have a purpose and we hope this is appreciated in the smoke." — Nelson Alfonso, Founder, Selected Tobacco S.A.
