Ashton VSG Sorcerer Cigar Review

By Mariana Heredia
Ashton VSG Sorcerer Cigar Review

Ashton has been making premium cigars since 1985. In 1999, they launched a new line of full-bodied cigars in 12 different sizes. The Ashton Virgin Sun Grown was an instant hit. Read this review of the blend and price range before committing to a whole box of Ashton VSG Sorcerer cigars!

The VSG Sorcerer comes in a Churchill cigar size. The 7 inches by 49-ring gauge cigar offers a full smoking experience to beginners and veterans alike. Cigars of these sizes typically last about 1 hour, 30 minutes to 2 hours.

These cigars spot an oily and shiny Ecuadorian wrapper. This wrapper embodies a core of 5 to 7 years old Dominican binders and fillers. The flavor profile consists of notes of earth, leather, cedar, espresso, and rich spices.

Ashton VSG Sorcerer Cigars Price Range

Ashton VSG cigars provide great value for money. They cost more than your regular jack and jones cigars. But the loads of unique experiences that await you are worth the price. Each stick costs about $12.5 on average, and their beautiful box of 24 costs about $300.  For today’s review, I have chosen the 7 inches Ashton Virgin Sun Grown (VSG) Sorcerer.

Ashton VSG Sorcerer Review

When I picked up the giant-looking Sorcerer from my humidor, the smoothness of the stick caught my attention. The wrapper is sheen and oily, with only tiny visible veins. The gold, white, red, and black color of the band with its minimal floral patterns add to its aesthetics.

The quality of the craftsmanship showed when I ran my hand through the cigar. The tip of the wrapper is well-rounded. It was well balanced with no hard or soft spots. Notes of coffee beans and earth consumed my senses as I took in a cold draw.

After lightening the cigar, the first third was characterized by a sapid flavor. The spices are very pronounced, nuts, damp earth, and a hint of pepper. The strength of the smoke was medium. The retrohale was gentle and smooth with some nutty notes.

On progressing to the central section, pepper flavors continued on a background of wood and espresso coffee. At this point, the strength has transitioned to becoming full-bodied.

The final third of the stogie provided a dominant flavor flanked by a short burst of spiciness. The smoke got more intense without becoming bitter. The flavors revolve around a well-structured core of coffee, spices, cocoa, and walnut.

Overall, the Sorcerer gave me an hour and 30 minutes of full-bodied smoke. It started out subtle but got intense with every passing puff. Each puff exposed me to more of the exceptional profile this cigar line boasts.

The Ashton Virgin Sun Grown, the Sorcerer is an excellent cigar. It has a complex and well-balanced flavor, with a ton of evolution throughout the smoking session. Strength was always composed and paired well with a bottle of scotch. You should give this a try for an evening of full-bodied Ashton greatness.
