About Byron 19th Century
Byron 19th Century is part of the Byron brand, revived by Nelson Alfonso of Selected Tobacco. The Byron line traces its roots back to mid‑19th century Cuba — founded by Jose and Eusebio Alfonso in Havana in 1848. After many decades, the brand was re‑established in the 1990s, reclaiming its name and legacy.
The “19th Century” designation reflects the aim to evoke the styles, character, and traditions of cigars from that era — the kind of complexity, handcraft, and profile that cigar aficionados associate with old‑world Cuban cigars. Production today is in Costa Rica, under high‐end, limited production standards.
