About Alfonso Gran Seleccion
Alfonso Gran Seleccion is a medium to full-bodied ultra-premium cigar and the bold second chapter in the Alfonso portfolio from Nelson Alfonso of Selected Tobacco S.A. Debuted at PCA 2023 as the successor to the acclaimed Alfonso Añejo, the Afonso Gran Seleccion pushes into darker, richer territory, swapping the Añejo's light Connecticut leaf for a dark, oily Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and introducing a Peruvian binder with Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. Like all Selected Tobacco releases, each cigar undergoes five years of post-roll aging in Spanish cedar and French oak rooms before it ever reaches a humidor, resulting in a depth and refinement that is immediately apparent from the first draw.
The profile opens with red pepper, maple syrup, and buttery toast, deepening into caramel, baking spices, aged wood, and leather. The retrohale reveals cedar and subtle floral notes, while the final third closes with malted chocolate, brown sugar, and a lingering French oak elegance — complex from first light to finish.
