Next time you visit the Dominican Republic and are looking for a cigar lounge or bar in Punta Cana, La Romana, Santo Domingo, Santiago, or Puerto Plata, we want to make sure you have an objective resource to turn to. Keep in mind that the Dominican Republic is a cigar-friendly country. You can pretty much smoke anywhere except unauthorized closed spaces and randomly designated nonsmoking outside areas. However, you can never go wrong with an authorized closed indoor establishment that is smoker-friendly like a cigar bar or cigar lounge.
That being said, keep in mind that the DR enjoys the best climate in the world from November through April. We highly recommend you choose open spaces with a beautiful view for your cigar enjoyment experience.
What is the best cigar bar or lounge in the Dominican Republic?
There are options depending on which city you’re in. Basically, any open-air bars or lounges qualify. Most hotels in DR now offer a cigar bar or lounge. If you don’t have one at yours, here are some of our favorites:
Punta Cana
- Don Lucas Cigar and Rum Bar: Open-air lounge with an impressive rum bar
- Don Queco Cigar Bar at the Westin Punta Cana: Cozy indoor cigar lounge and bar ideal for the hot summer months
La Romana
The first two locations are in Casa de Campo and are open-air bars, while Cigar Country is located in La Estancia, about 15 minutes away from Casa de Campo.
- La Caña Bar: Enjoy watching a game with a drink in hand.
- Minitas Beach Club Bar: Experience one of the best sunsets on the east coast of the Dominican Republic with a cigar in hand.
- Cigar Country: Shop for cigars and enjoy your smokes!
Santo Domingo
- Arturo Fuente Cigar Club: Luxurious bar and lounge in the big Santo Domingo city – considered the best in the country. The only downside is they only sell Fuente.
- Cigar World: Great local hang-out spot for Dominican smokers. Decent bar and cigar selection.
- Cameroon Lounge: Local hang out in the Malecon near the beautiful Colonial zone of Santo Domingo.
Santiago
- Saga Cigar Lounge: The place where top cigar industry players meet for drinks, food, business, and of course cigars.
Puerto Plata
- Puerto Plata Cigar Club: Great bar, lounge, and cigar selection with friendly staff and patrons. Well situated in Old Town.
